Billy Graham Funeral Procession

My style of traveling is impulsive. I just throw a dart at the map and go. I’m not really planning much other than a general direction. Some of the times, this makes me completely oblivious to what is going on in the places I travel.

This was the case when I was in North Carolina. I had just got done eating in Charlotte and was on my way to Asheville. After a while, things started to get weird. People were just randomly pulling into the median. I just thought it was a bad day for break downs or something.

I then started to see overpasses with a bunch of cars parked. Some had cranes with American flags draped over them. Other overpasses had emergency vehicles with their lights on. The further I drove, the more people were just hanging out on the side of the road.

By then, I knew something more significant was going on. I remembered I turned onto Bill Graham Parkway around Charlotte. A church along the way had a sign about Bill Graham, and I know he had just passed away.

I then summoned Siri and asked her if there was anything going on in regards to Billy Graham’s death. I found out his funeral procession was actually coming the other way. Now it all made sense! I guess I ended up witnessing a historic event without me even knowing what was going on until I was in the middle of it.

The procession was on the other side of the interstate. The following are a bunch of pictures I took along the way.
