Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Roswell, NM

If you want to view nature in a very bare-bones minimalistic way, you go to a national wildlife refuge. That’s exactly what I did when I wanted to see the beauty of New Mexico at the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

I went through the small gate and made my way inside down the curvy road.

I stopped by the building. It was closed, but I got some good views from the deck.

I got back in the car and hit the gravel road to take the Wildlife Driving Tour. That car ahead of me was one of only a handful of people there. I pretty much had the place to myself!

There were some scenic overlooks along the way that I turned off to catch the view.

I tried to stop at most of the scenic overlooks to catch a view and also got some good views while driving the main path.

I stopped near a small creek.

After that, I made may way to another area that may or may have not been a creek. Part of the trail was closed off so I couldn’t explore further.

With a little bit more driving, I had completed the loop around the refuge. I loved all the beauty New Mexico had to offer, and it was so peaceful that I was pretty much in nature by myself.
