Clem Mikeska’s BBQ, Temple, TX

When driving I35, I always see signs for Clem Mikeska’s BBQ in Temple, TX. Victoria and I have been looking around for BBQ places for our rehearsal dinner. We decided to try this place out.

The first noticeable thing about the restaurant is the old Western rustic feel and a cow on the roof.

The rustic feel isn’t reserved to the outside. When you come inside it feels a bit like a hunting lodge. I’ve never seen so many dead animals mounted all over the place! The ceiling walking in even has a bunch of deer antlers. It feels very clean and upscale!

The menu has a large selection of both BBQ and steaks. It makes it hard to decide!

We ordered and in between came warm buttery hot rolls. There was some more whipped butter that made these buns melt in your mouth.

I got Clem’s sausage with a side of coleslaw and potato salad.

The food was all good, but Clem’s sausage stood out. It was one of the more unique sausages I’ve had in Texas. It was a bit drier to the taste, but the texture and seasoning reminded me of summer sausage. I’m a big fan of summer sausage so I was pleased. The BBQ sauce added some tang to it and it made for a great meal.

Besides the food being good, the service was phenomenal. Julie was our waitress and she did a great job. She really went above and beyond and it made the whole experience wonderful. I can definitely say I do like this place and I know I’ll be back!
