Gas Pumps That Wont Shut Up

I can usually get 3-4 hours between gas stops. Most times, I will drive 3-4 hours straight from the last gas stop without stopping. With all the road noise I encounter, it’s nice to be able to get out of the car, stretch, and get a little peace and quiet. One annoyance I have found on the road is gas pumps that won’t shut up.

While I’m reveling in the quiet, something annoying happens. The pump decides to intrude on this moment. I end up getting spammed with either some rewards program nonsense or told I need to buy things I probably wouldn’t buy.

My knee-jerk reaction to this is to hit the mute button. Sadly, it seems that many companies thought ahead and disabled this. They want me to keep listening to their blaring spam as I’m hoping the pump goes faster and clicks off with a full tank.

I’m sure other people feel the same way I do. After how much driving, they just want some peace and quiet. If any gas station is actually reading this, please take note. If you have a pump that won’t shut up, let’s make a compromise. Make sure your mute button works. Maybe, I’ll be more inclined to buy whatever you’re spamming me with after I enjoy my moments of peace and quiet.
