La Quinta Inn & Suites Duluth, Duluth, MN

I still have some La Quinta Returns points left over, so I figured I would stop in Duluth on my way up to Thunder Bay. The interesting thing is I was not able to find this La Quinta on the app. I knew it was there, but I ended up having to call from Canal Park and book it over the phone.

Not seeing the hotel on the app made start to think, “What am I in for?” I know I’ve stayed at some sketchy La Quintas before, especially around the border. When I arrived at this La Quinta, my gut feeling was wrong. This ended up being a newer La Quinta and one of the best ones I’ve stayed at!

The Outside:

The Lobby:

The lobby was open. Behind the front desk, it had a cool picture of the Aerial Bridge in Duluth.

The Hallways:

The Fitness Room:

The fitness room had a lot of equipment and also a great view outside.

The Pool:

Being that it is Minnesota, the pool is indoors. It was cool they even had a hot tub.

The Room:

The room was a standard room you’d expect at a La Quinta. Everything was in order.

The View:

This hotel is probably the quietest and most serene hotel I’ve been to. It was really relaxing with it being so quiet and also the woods was a lot better to look at than a concrete jungle. The sunrise in the woods was pretty amazing the next day.

Internet Speeds:

Internet speeds were very amazing! I was not expecting this. Coming straight from Wisconsin, I expected the internet to suck. This fast internet allowed me to sync up the many pictures I took from my phone to Dropbox. I was also able to get some work done.

The only thing I was slightly disappointed with in this place was the breakfast. They did have a decent selection of food, except for fried eggs. I have no clue why they filled up two pans with breakfast potatoes. I wish they would have had eggs to go with those potatoes.

The La Quinta Elite bag was standard.

Overall, this hotel was pretty good. The only thing that I was expecting that wasn’t there was eggs for breakfast. Other than that the quiet and serenity allowed me to sit back, relax, and think. The fast internet allowed me to get a bunch of work done on this blog. The whole experience was very good. Since I go to Thunder Bay often and pass through Duluth, this might become my go-to place to stay.
